What is the AI Assistant?

The AI Assistant is powered by ChatGPT and has been specifically trained using the Little Snitch documentation and answers to questions frequently asked. The Assistant uses this information, along with its general understanding of language, to answer your questions.

But be careful! Don’t take the “Intelligence” in “AI” literally! If the Assistant suggests you sacrifice your dog to solve a problem, don’t do it! Or, to be more practical: if it suggests Terminal commands, only run them if you fully understand what they do and are confident they are correct. Always trust your common sense more than the Assistant!

What is the AI Assistant good for?

The Assistant is designed to quickly provide solutions to many of your questions. This means you don’t have to search through the entire manual to find what you need. It can also save you time waiting for a response from our support team. However, it is not a replacement for our support team! If the Assistant can’t answer a question to your satisfaction, please continue to contact our support.

Sharing Your Data

Simply put: Only type things into the box that you would also post anonymously in a public forum. Avoid sharing confidential or personal information like passwords and IP addresses. Here’s why:

• Your question is sent to OpenAI servers to be answered. We only transmit the question itself, not your IP address.
• We also store your questions and the assistant’s answers for later analysis. We want to understand which questions the AI can answer well and which ones can’t. And of course, we want to know how to further improve the results. We only store questions and answers, not any personal information like your IP address.
